WhatsApp had 450 million daily active users in Q2 2018. In 2019, the WhatsApp user base has grown and stands at 1.5 billion active users. It is estimated that about 58% of users access WhatsApp several times per day to check new messages.

According to an estimate, the average user checks WhatsApp more than 23 times per day. The number of WhatsApp users in the USA is also predicted to grow to about 25 million by 2021. Although WhatsApp is banned in 12 countries still there are 3 million companies using WhatsApp Business app.

WhatsApp has 300 million daily active status users worldwide and ever since Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the company is constantly working on rolling out new, amazing features. Research says WhatsApp can be good for your health.

Let’s take a look at the new features expected to roll out on WhatsApp in the coming days.

Dark Mode:

This feature has been a talk of the town recently. It seems like WhatsApp checks-in with this feature in one beta output and scrapes the feature altogether in the next beta making pundits wonder, will the feature will ever get to the official version?. The Dark mode is already introduced in Facebook’s messenger, Twitter and it is expected to hit WhatsApp soon.

Hide-Muted Status:

WhatsApp is all set to introduce hide muted status updates. This feature will enable you to hide a status from specific people in your contact list. Don’t like someone, don’t block – just mute them so they still stay cute.

Android Fingerprint Lock:

iPhone married users are lucky, their wives cannot open WhatsApp while their husband is sleeping. All iPhone users have fingerprint lock that means, only they can access WhatsApp by providing their thumb impression.

Android users could be getting this feature pretty soon. Hang in there folks, good times are around the corner.

Share WhatsApp status to Facebook and Instagram stories:

We don’t buy facts, we buy stories. Following Snapchat footprints, Facebook introduced stories for its users and business pages in 2017. The pioneer of stories in the social network was Snapchat.

Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to share their status on Facebook and Instagram stories. Excited much?

Prioritizing top contacts:

WhatsApp will be ranking your top contacts and always show them on the top. Following Facebook’s algorithm where you only see the posts from the people you frequently interact with, WhatsApp will also be showing your frequently contacted contacts on the top. It remains to be seen what happens to your secret conversations especially after you delete chat and calls made to your favorite contact.

If the contact still remains on the top with empty chat, boy that’s asking for trouble.

Picture in Picture (PIP) for Android:

Already rolled out for iOS users, Android users will get the picture in picture mode very soon. It means you will continue watching a video even though you switch a chat window. Facebook introduced this feature recently for app and desktop users following YouTube’s footprints. Your video will not be interrupted if you close the original post and browser the timeline.
